Find your IP address

Knowing your IP address can help you troubleshoot problems with your internet connection. You may be surprised to learn that you have two IP addresses: an IP address for your computer on the internal network and an IP address for your computer on the internet.

Find your internal (network) IP address:

* Open the Activities overview and start typing Network.
* Click on Network to open the panel.
* Select Wi-Fi or Wired from the list on the left, depending on which network connection you want to find the IP address for.
* You will see the IP address for a wired connection on the right, or open the connection details by pressing on the {{///figures/emblem-system-symbolic.svg%3Faction%3Dcontent%3Faction%3Dcontent?action=content|details|width="16",height="16",class="media media-inline"}} button to see the Details for wireless network.

Find your external (internet) IP address

* Visit [[1]].
* The site will display your external IP address for you.
