Hamara's Position on Net Neutrality
Hamara Linux POV
HamaraLinux is a start-up and is just beginning to find its feet. Many GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris (all Unix derivatives) distributions are more or less in the same group that the content we have or offer isn't known by many or is niche content which is useful and used by people.
As most startups, cash-flow is an important issue for us as we have various demands and cannot hope to fight with the big boys if this comes into play. This takes money off the table which could be used to hire more people, make more content and be more creative.
Also, the money being paid doesn't guarantee any new infrastructure apart from what they have already built or are going to build in the near future and is in fact tax that we, the content providers will have to give which in-turn will be passed to the customers with a worsening user experience for all.

Quotations by people in favor of Net Neutrality
“Allowing broadband carriers to control what people see and do online would fundamentally undermine the principles that have made the Internet such a success… A number of justifications have been created to support carrier control over consumer choices online; none stand up to scrutiny.” - Vint Cerf, Google Chief Internet Evangelist, and co-developer of the Internet Protocol (IP)
“An Open Internet means consumers can go where they want, when they want. This principle is often referred to as Net Neutrality. It means innovators can develop products and services without asking for permission. It means consumers will demand more and better broadband as they enjoy new lawful Internet services, applications and content, and broadband providers cannot block, throttle, or create special “fast lanes” for that content. The FCC’s Open Internet rules protect and maintain open, uninhibited access to legal online content without broadband Internet access providers being allowed to block, impair, or establish fast/slow lanes to lawful content.” - FCC, American counterpart to our TRAI
"All bits are created equal. It is not just a good idea; it ought to be the law." Prof. K. Nageshwar - Swecha, Hyderabad
“The government wants to divide the internet among big industrialists” - Mr. Rahul Gandhi
“It is one million emails to TRAI minus any trolling or harassing, quite unprecedented for digital activism,” - Nikhil Pahwa, editor MediaNama
“It shows the magnitude of concern… the way we use the internet today may be destroyed because a few telecom operators want to take control of how we access the internet and, more importantly, what we access online,” - Nikhil Pahwa, editor MediaNama
